Managed Services for Exchange 2010

Azaleos has expanded our Managed Exchange services support to include Exchange 2010. Microsoft recently advised Microsoft Exchange 2003 Server customers who have not yet moved to Exchange 2007 to migrate directly to Exchange 2010. Exchange 2010 has been tested by tens of millions of users prior to its release and features new functionality that will significantly improve the email experience for both users and administrators.

One of the major benefits of the Azaleos managed services is the ability for Azaleos customers to capture the upside of the Exchange 2010 improvements without being hindered by the ongoing Exchange complexity. Exchange 2010 offers the following key improvements over previous down-level versions of Exchange:

  • Better high availability, backup and disaster recovery support: What used to take multiple applications to achieve mailbox resiliency becomes possible using just Exchange. Also, a very large mailbox – even 10 gigs+ becomes very affordable and supportable with Exchange 2010.
  • Better “Mobile” support: Outlook Web Access (renamed now to Outlook Web App), Outlook Mobile and Exchange Active Sync have always been the leading methods for browser, Windows Phone and Mobile phone access to Exchange. In the 2010 release they have all been improved, for example, integrating IM/presence to OWA and conversation view in Outlook Mobile.
  • VoiceMail Replacement: A mid-size innovative manufacturing company deployed Exchange 2010 voice mail avoiding a $43,000 annual maintenance contract for their legacy voice mail and reduced IT support required by more than 1000 hours – providing an additional $28,000 savings. And, with the new text preview, a national auto dealer has improved their sales rep response time to voice mails by 50%, which means a better sales experience for customers.
  • Expanded storage options: Disk i/o activity has been reduced by approximately 70% over Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2010 has been architected to work with disc storage options from Fiber Channel down thru SATA.
  • Expanded archiving options: Exchange 2010 now offers integrated archiving, retention and discovery capabilities offering savings on the cost and maintenance of using third party archiving solutions.
A recent Microsoft customer survey showed that 40% of the Exchange Server installed base is actually planning to move to Exchange 2010 by June 2010.  Azaleos monitoring and management effectively oversees all aspects of the new Exchange 2010 functionality and helps you to leverage these improvements to reduce the costs of your overall messaging system.

Azaleos Managed Exchange Services for Exchange 2010 continues to monitor the Host system (physical server) as well as the Guest (virtual) servers operating within a Windows 2008 Hyper-V Server virtual environment. All of the standard Azaleos services available for Exchange 2007 will continue to be supported and additional monitoring services have been added to allow Azaleos to monitor and manage the new Exchange 2010 DAGs (database availability groups) and archiving databases.
