AttachIT: Large Email Attachments Service
AttachIT is the newest service addition to the Azaleos portfolio.  Combined with Azaleos Managed Exchange and Managed SharePoint services, AttachIT delivers a real solution for Exchange email attachment struggles. AttachIT is a niche large attachment handling application specifically designed for enterprises that leverage Exchange and SharePoint and who want to get the most out of their Microsoft investment.

Microsoft Exchange does not transfer large files very well. Exchange attachments are one of the top 5 email issues for IT Managers, creating repetitive storage and transport time issues. One of the most common complaints from Exchange users is the lack of support for large file transfer or large file storage inside the Outlook interface.  In the past IT organizations have tried without success to train users to upload files to either file servers or some sort of web services portal like SharePoint. At the end of the day end users need a solution that will fit their needs, not a solution that forces them into a particular set of technology that is cumbersome to use.

As services move to the cloud and resources are shared between many millions of users, it will be increasingly important to control the amount of data an end user can submit through Outlook.

Azaleos AttachIT is a simple solution that addresses the immediate needs of both IT and end users. The AttachIT solution uses small integration components to integrate both the Outlook/Exchange and SharePoint functionality in a way that is not intrusive and that is easy to support and upgrade.

  • Azaleos works with corporate IT to install a simple Outlook plugin on all clients.
  • When users attempt to attach data to an email message of a size greater than that specified by requirements, the plugin will automatically be invoked.
  • AttachIT will create a connection to SharePoint 2010; SharePoint will identify the data type, decide how/where to file the attachment (note: Attachments will NOT be stored in SharePoint) and then return a URL link back to the email message to be sent with the email.
  • Upon receiving the email, the recipient clicks on the embedded URL to retrieve the attachment.
AttachIT Version 1 will be focused on internal corporate sending only (no sending external to the company). Subsequent versions of AttachIT will allow for external access, compression and use of SharePoint for metadata logging.

The resulting solution is cost efficient and highly secure, leveraging existing hardware, software and storage and not requiring the new purchase of a complicated client/server system.

As an introductory offer, new Azaleos customers of both SharePoint and AttachIT are eligible for a special promotion discount of up to 30% across both services. Customers must already be subscribed to Azaleos Exchange services to be eligible.
