Azaleos and The Cloud
Azaleos’ core business is managing collaboration environments. Our services have scaled and evolved since we opened in 2004- today we manage thousands of servers in over 55 countries across 5 continents. From Day 1, our solution was built to scale and to be consumed by our customers in whichever fashion is best for them, whether that’s in the cloud, on premise or a mix of both.

Read our whitepaper: Messaging and Collaboration in the Cloud: What You Need to Know for a detailed analysis of the three hosting options.

As a Tier 1 Office 365 Partner, we helped Microsoft build the deployment processes for their public cloud solution. Azaleos has deployed some of the largest Office 365-D clients, over 2 million seats in all. We’ve thoroughly evaluated both the Microsoft cloud and the overall public cloud offerings on the market for messaging and collaboration and understand what environments make the best fits and how others create more risk.

The Azaleos approach to the cloud centers around 3 core deployment environments: Public, Private and Hybrid.

  • Public: This is the most familiar example of cloud computing: big, publicly available, Web-based applications such as Microsoft’s Office 365 Suite (formerly called Business Productivity Online Suite -- BPOS). Azaleos recommends Office 365 if it is a fit for the customer. However, many companies still have concern over this model, often citing security and reliability as key issues preventing them from moving their IT operations to publicly shared infrastructure, even if it's cheaper. Those companies increasingly have another alternative -- the “private cloud”.

  • Private: Unlike the public cloud, the resources of the private cloud are dedicated to a single enterprise customer. They're controlled by the corporation, not a third-party vendor who has the ability to lease and share them to anyone it chooses. They can be leveraged throughout the business in a flexible format, allowing premise based applications which exist today (or in the future) to integrate seamlessly. Private clouds can operate within a company’s Active Directory and the boundaries of existing security policies on dedicated private networks. They are often built by leveraging virtualization and the security of a dedicated section of a third-party datacenter like those provided by Azaleos or our partners, Verizon Business and IBM.

  • Hybrid: An emerging approach to the cloud is the hybrid model which allows for increased flexibility to respond to unique business scenarios or security/regulatory restrictions. The hybrid cloud allows businesses to benefit from a cloud model where possible but not to have to accept limited security, feature sets, and control for all users and/or all applications. You can read more about some of these scenarios and the Azaleos services that address them.
The Azaleos solution set is built on a flexible delivery model that meets the needs of either model or a combination of both. Our core business is managing Exchange, SharePoint, Lync and Active Directory so companies get better performance and save money. Our technology gives customers the freedom to put their data wherever they choose – and consume our services in whichever fashion is best for them.
